Garganey Consulting can provide small websites to help manage county-wide single species bird surveys usually for a one-off fee, including the hosting of a website with an address like [county][species].birdsurvey.org.uk.
The user functionality provided can include:
- a home page describing the objectives of the survey
- a colour-coded allocation map showing a 1km or 2km square map of the survey area, indicating the surveyor allocation status (available, requested and pending allocation, allocated)
- the map page can include the county outline, shaded conurbations and displayable town/city names
- the ability for potential surveyors to request a survey square
- once allocated, the ability to display a printable Ordnance Survey map of the selected square, download survey instructions, survey forms and other information
- a colour-coded results status map, once some results have been entered by administrator(s)
- the manual allocation of survey squares
- approval, editing or declining of survey square allocation requests
- the option for the county area can be split between more than one administrator
- the ability to enter survey results status, prompting the display of the results map on the public pages
